My GiGi was just diagnosed with a malignant tumor mid way on her tail. We had scheduled surgery for two days later and in the meantime I FLEW for second opinions. The morning of the scheduled surgery I woke up and her tail was soaked....I assumed that the supposed malignant tumor was not that at all and probably a skin reaction to a shampoo that I used a week or so before I found the lump. So I cancelled the surgery...the vet then gave me a topical to put on it and said if it is not malignant it will dry up with the stuff he , JUST NOW (after putting us thru a tail spin, literally) gave us. It did dry up and it is gone scab and all. I called her breeder and she said to keep an eye on it for a few months.....if it comes back it could be a problem (the one the vet said, I hate to say the word).

It is hard to tell with out a biopsy....biop is the only way. We of course had a full set of xrays to be sure that nothing has penetrated the rest of the body. And yes to begin with the lump was aspirated. Don't get me wrong to save her from a terminal or any kind of illness I would pay to no limit. But geez couldn't he tell or have a better way of handling the course of events. I was crazy with sadness and fear.

I don't want to jinx my baby or tell you not to do everything you can to assure yourself that this thing is not a serious problem to your little peanut. But your baby should have xrays and a biopsy if you are not convinced that surgery is not needed.

I have to say I tell this story too much. I just want you to search your sole about this surgery before you have it done . But just keep in mind if it is something that should be removed the sooner the better in my opinion....and remember they know nothing with out a biop.

I hoped I hepled you a little knowing that others have and are going thru the same thing as you.....of course I am not a vet or dcotor just a Yorkie lover.
