I call it the message board, the "main" message board changes from yard to yard every once in a while. Chip could spend 30 min. sniffing that yard if I let him, also there are the mailbox stops too. We usually do a loop around the block which is about a mile. Once a week I take him to the dog park where he can run and chase with doggies his size.
If you are starting out with more walks, start small and then build up a longer one. Just like humans when you start or begin a new exercise program, let him build up his stamina and strength first before adding more.
