I let him run around the living room this morning for 20 min after he "goes" outside, and after 10min he started to poo on the rug! I tried to pick him up and run outside (which is not easy with baby gates and child locks on the door to keep my son in), saying NO the whole way, but he continued and left a trail. Then what do I do with him? He did nothing outside, so does he go back in the crate?
Sorry for all the questions.

One person on this forum lets their dogs out during the day and uses papers in the garage at night to not get them used to going in the house at all - that might work for Spike.
There are a lot of different methods for the crate training. It's hard to give them play time AND know when they have to potty. It was easier for me because he'd be out of his crate in the kitchen with papers available. If you want to outdoor potty train only, I suck at that.

Takes time to get the schedule. One person suggested to me that when they start to poop, to scoop them up and push their little tail
down - it makes them stop going. That did work for me and gave me time to get Coby where I wanted him to finish going.
Just keep asking questions!!
