Hi Liz,
When you take your puppy out of the x-pen, do you pick him up and out of the x-pen? If you pick him up from the pen to get him out, he'll think up is the way out of the pen, and hence try to jump out on his own. Similarly, if you instead lift the pen to get him out, he'll try to dig. The proper way to let him out of the pen is the "door style" in-and-out, instead of up&above or down&below. Once you get him used to go in and out of the pen through the door/gate, he probably won't try to jump out of the pen.
Or, if you have never picked him up to take him out of the pen, he's already outsmarted me =) |
