I'm not sure if you were speaking to the same judge as I was, but the one I was speaking too stated that any pup with a sooty face would be disqualified. Now you and I know that pups take a bit to clear and those that clear too soon will most likely not hold their blue very long. So, even though the black was not even opened up to the DQ it appears the judges will be interpreting the DQ differently.

I wish they would have used the Illustrated Standard if they were going to open up the standard for change. The Illustrated Standard does a better job of explaining and leaves less room for interpretation.
