Ok..Im not trying to talk you into letting him sleep on your bed..just giving you an idea of our way..

My husband and I share the bed with 2 Yorkies and a Boykin Spaniel, a Himalayan and a Ragdoll cat..I am a terrible deep sleep and hubby is a toss and turner our dogs quickly realized how to get out of the way before its too late and both actually liked to be squished a bit and will push theirselves right under me if they can..Reece is 5 pounds and Soleil is 18 weeks and about 3 pounds and both have been in our bed since they were 8 weeks old..I did have a sleepless night the first time but believe me they are smart enough to move out of the way if need be..then they sleep on my pillow or at the foot of the bed...I dont have stairs but I also dont have a tall bed either..so if this ever becomes and option for you...I just wanted you to know that they can be easily trained to stay in bed safely with you...also...it was great for housebreaking at night...no one wanted to pee in our nice warm bed lol..

Good luck!!
