They do get into new habits so quickly, we went on holiday when buddy was 5 months and he stayed with my hubbys family. They let him sleep on the bed and when we got back he was no way gonna go back to sleeping on his bed next to our one. I must admit after one night of him whining we gave up and he's pretty much been on our bed ever since. He is a big boy tho so we don't have the squashing falling off the bed worries.
I think just stick with it and hopefully he'll get the idea again, i think i'd bring him back into your room again tho, if he's got used to snuggling up to you at night, in a room alone is probably upsetting him more.
