Default studding out

I would make sure my stud was exactly that, stud quality. Have a vet check his patellas, structure, bite, 2 testicles, etc. Have a reputable show breeder or AKC judge go over the dog to see if he is sound and meets the standard of the breed. does he have champion parents? Or just a couple of champs in the 3rd or 4th generation? What is your purpose in studding him out?

If you are really wanting to do this, I would have proof of the females vaccinations and a current brucellosis test that is negative. The owner of the bitch will probably want to see yours also. The female to be bred will stay at your house for approximately 1 week form the 9th day of her heat. I would breed one time, every other day. At least 2 to 3 breedings total. If your boy is a virgin, he might be hard to breed, especially to a virgin female. I always hold my male and female when breeding in case of a fight when they are tied. The stud fee is due upon first tie, unless you are wanting a puppy back.

Just remember that you are responsible for the female while she is at your house.

Good luck!!! Lynn
