Yes, it is expensive and time consuming to breed Yorkies, ANY dog for that matter, but it is also a way for not-so-nice people to make a lot of money if the consumer does not know they can get a QUALITY, healthy happy puppy for less. Kepp looking!!! I know you can find something in your price range, unless you want a champion bloodline. Don't be fooled by the price tag.

I live in Ohio, and I did extensive research and had many discussions with various breeders all over the state for a year prior to purchasing, and there was not a Yorkie puppy under $1,000 to be found from anybody reputable. The back yard puppy mills will sell them for $850 if that's what you really want to purchase, with no health guarantees or anything else. NOT what I wanted. I even investigated many breeders online in other states, just to compare, and again, did not find a registered Yorkie girl for under $1,000.

I paid $1,200 for my Gracie, and she's worth every dime and then some. Perhaps I could have paid less buying from a breeder in another state, but I did not feel comfortable paying any price for a dog that I had not seen or interacted with.

Perhaps other states such as Florida have an abundance of Yorkie breeders and demand requires a lower price?
