It'll take some time to get used to the collar. It might be easier to start with just a collar first, and then once he gets used to the collar add the tag. Lacy's first collar was a plain nylon collar that buckled and she scratched and scratched at that thing until it was all frayed. When I bought her the next one, she was fine though. I think it just took her about a week to get used to it. I didn't start putting a tag on there until a couple months later.
