As long as you have him checked out it IS OK to limit water. For example, I will not refill the water bowl twice as he stands there almost sick from drinking it all at once. Plus, when he drinks that much he can't hold it very long, so he does not get water in his crate (he just drinks it all the second he gets in there) and we don't always keep a full water bowl down. Typically I fill it half way (about 8 oz) and make sure they both get a good drink. Then I wait a while before refilling it. I always fill it at meal times and I know my husband refills it many times because the 16oz bottle i leave for them every day is empty when i get home. Trust me, they will let you know when the bowl is empty. Loki even taught his sister how to flip the bowl over and kick it across the floor. She does it like she wants water, so I go fill it and she just gives me a funny look and walks away.

I mean, if Loki drinks FOUR times his daily requirement rather than EIGHT times, he's still getting way more than he needs. He's 12 pounds and he can drink 8+ oz in one big gulp I swear. And I make sure Sammy always gets to drink first or separate so she gets enough.
