I have flown United and Express Jet with dogs and have found both to be understanding. Liked Express Jet a bit better though. No one has ever measured my carrier. It is a Sherpa on wheels. I think United charged me $85 each way for the dog(s) and Express Jet charges $50 each way for the dog(s)
