I agree with this one although NOT picking them up is something I'd never heard before.... but I suppose it's training them the "route" to the door.

4. hold them on their backs with one hand on their bellies and the other hand petting them until they submit. then let them go. letting them up when they wiggle lets them think they are in control. do this 3-4 times per day. While I have mixed emotions about this, I think as she explains it with "petting them until they submit" (versus being stern about it), I don't really have a problem with it. It doesn't have to be cruel, just firm; and it's really little different than being adament that they hold still during grooming, etc.

Agreed with these too! I do the roll over on their back. I gently roll them over, sit or kneel next to them and hold my hand firmly on their chest (not pushing hard) just enough pressure to tell them to be still. I say "relax" while rubbing their bellies... when they calm down I remove my hand... then say "ok" and then they are back to playing or whatever it was they were doing.

It breaks their concentration fro what they were doing and teaches them to calm down, IMO.

I don't agree with doing it for domination or standing above them while it's done which is why I sit or kneel.
