After the age of 8 a males sperm may begin to lessen in fertility but successful matings have taken place between young bitches and dogs as old as 15 years. An affidavit of fertility, signed by a qualified veterinarian, must accompany the registration of a litter whose sire at the time of mating was 12 years of older.
