The Chihuahua club of Canda is hoping to close the door to merle Chi's. The Pug Club of Canada is scrambling to close to the door to 'rare' brindle pugs.
Why? Because it is not a correct colour and long time fanciers have insisted that these colours never existed in the breed they are the result of crossing.
I know of someone trying to miniaturize Shar Peis. I found an ad where this person was looking for a sharpei pug cross that looked like a small sharpei. To do what was that with?
About 30 years ago a breeder was trying to introduce black and white German short haired pointers which is a wrong colour and can occur in a breeding but not desirable. The GSP breeders certainly put a stop to that quick enough.
there are enough breeds around that come in all colours, if that is what strikes your eye, go for it. Why damage a nice purebred breed like the elegant Yorkie? Or go to crossbreeds, you can breed anything you want if you do that nobody will care. |
the tri colored yorkies are beautiful dogs. What is wrong with developing them into a breed of their own? Who is it hurting? The beautiful elegant traditional yorkie will not be changed. What is wrong with the two colors coexisting?
True there are many breeds that are already tri coliored, but they don't have the yorkie coat or the yorkie persoanlity. There is more to a yorkie than it's color.
They cannot be developed into a breed of their own unless people like me are willing to stand up to the ridicule of people like you. So here we are.
