Actually you can find good Yorkies for less than you paid. It just takes some time and research.
My breeder sell show dogs for 2000-3000$ but there is a clear difference between a show dog and a pet.

the thing is the buyer makes the price. IF you show you are not willing to pay thousands then the demand price will go lower for the same quality of the product you purchase.
needless to say I am very content that I ran into a breeder who truly did not want to make a profit from selling a Yorkie as a pet, she honestly just wanted a great home for her dogs.
