It is a problem that plagues yorkies in humid and cold weather. It mostly affects silk coated yorkies. Keeping the skin clean and dry and applying Lotrimin 2% usually is the best way to clear it up. It affects ears, nose and extremities.....black and crusty. Go to Vassarsquare.com there is information on it. As a groomer, exhibitor and breeder I highly recommend completely drying your puppy after every bath to prevent the problem. There has been a couple of threads on this subject. It's affects are not pretty, black skin and coat lost. And when the coat comes back it isn't pretty. Never comb a wet coat and never brush a dry coat.
