If they use this little dinky thing, I hope they are prepared to lose her or at the very least have a c-section. 10 months old is too young to breed anyway.

It is an unwritten rule, not less than 5 pounds. However, there are other factors that fit into the breeding prospect. Whether, she comes from a line of free whelpers, whether she is healthy and is a good representation of the breed. And of course weight is relative, you can have a female that should be 3 pounds and is over fed and weighs 5 pounds.
