Sad Please share your experience with Metacam or NSAID's or Prednisone

My beautiful Darla (aka mush mouse ) 6 pounds 13 years old, Severe collasping trachea. Her coughing is getting worse, the only medication she is on is hycodan. I did not want to put her on Prednisone ,after reading all the nightmare stories but was considering it,one vet suggested metacam, after reading about it I am scared to death to use it. I have to control her coughing it is so bad .Please anyone have any experience with either ? One warning to all , my baby never had a Collasping trachea till 4 years ago when I took her to a local Vet to have her teeth cleaned, she came home coughing and never stopped. She also came home limping ! When I asked the Vet they said it was normal after cleaning to cough, two weeks later they said she has a collasping trachea. I believe they used the wrong size tube in her throat and damaged her trachea and they must of dropped her and hurt her leg! Over the years it kept getting worse (scare tissue )

Please share your experience
Thanks
Nikki
