Why not use the Christmas gift money to pay for the vacation? I heard this idea on the radio last year.. thought it was a great idea.
God knows the last thing most people, including kids, need is more STUFF.
To make it even more special, you could go the week before Christmas.. a great week that normally isn't very busy. I went then last year and it was amazing. So amazing, that we are going again this year at that time. |
I was going to say that too!

I think its a great idea!!!
Then on Christmas day - offer to do dinner for the family, make it a big special day but tell them there will be no gift exchange this year.

People enjoy that! Getting a nice meal, a nice day away and someone else to do the dishes! Maybe get some special red & green tupperware containers for cheap and send leftover plates home with everyone! So they dont need to cook the next day either
Also homemade gifts are nice. I make frosted pecan bites every year, tons of them (maybe $30 for all ingredients) and put them in disposable tupperware containers (ya know those CHEAP ones) with some red or green plastic wrap in it and some red & green ribbon tied around it. People love them, they are yummy and they have the tupperware afterwards!
