Thank you Melman for reposting after some of the responses you received I didn't expect you to return.....
It was the belt comment that brought out the anger in some posters and rightly so, that is abuse to an animal, I realize the frustration you and your wife are feeling but that is NOT the way to make the pup behave ...all that will do is frighten and hurt him...you may get some cooperation at times but it would be out of fear, not that you corrected the behavior....the pup will not come running to you if all he thinks he's going to receive is loud yelling voices and a swat w/ a belt... you wouldn't want a pet to cower and fear you would you?....
I'm glad to hear some one is willing to reach out to you all to help and that you have accepted the offer....but if it still is not working don't force it, just rehome him for all involved....I hope things get better....real soon.....
