Shunts are operable and repairable...MVD is managed through diet and supplements for the life of the dog. Generally, less than 100 usually points towards MVD and over 100 points more towards liver shunt, but there are ALWAYS exceptions. I know of dogs with under 100 who had liver shunt and dogs with over 300 with MVD.
