Deyna,
Miko used to be a real barker also, and nothing seemed to work for him. We tried spraying him with water, making noise with pennies in a jar, and nothing worked because he would just bark more.
Well, we bought him a collar that sprays citronella when he barks, and he has stopped barking so much!!! It's so great...I highly recommend it because a shock collar hurts the dog and the high-pitch noise can be heard by other dogs. It's not fair to make the other dogs have to hear the noise when they're not doing anything wrong.
The citronella is non-toxic and it doesn't make the dog suffer at all. The smell of citronella just kind of confuses them because it's not something they smell very often. We were almost forced to do something about his barking because he barked so much one time that he made himself really sick and he was coughing and couldn't breathe very well so he was snorting/honking for a couple of hours. It was really scary!
We only put the collar on whenever we leave the house and whenever he's barking for absolutely no reason which he doesn't really do anymore. The collar has really trained him well!!
Good luck,
Yorkieluv
