I've never had Lacy's anal glands expressed. I don't think anyone should do it regularly unless it's needed. Most dogs express their anal glands themselves when they poop. If the stool is too soft though, a dog may not express its anal glands. If a dog isn't able to express its anal glands themselves, they can become full, and will need to be expressed. I would have a vet do it as they know the correct way to do it (from the inside). Groomers really do it the wrong way (squeezing the outside). Just because you do it once doesn't mean you will have to keep doing it, but continuously doing it over time will cause you to have to keep up with it. Some dogs have anal gland problems and need them expressed on a regular basis
