I just did this myself when I got DSL. If you want to change your AOL to free go to Your Account and then under change your password section you can change your account to the free one. They don't make it easy, they kinda hide it, or you can just call them (you have to hold forever, though). It will take effect in your next billing cycle and it doesn't take off any premium service you might have like AOL call alert. Hope this helps.
Thank you sooo much. I held on the AOL phone so long, I gave up. I wanted to keep that email address because it is on business cards and I got a zillion nice ones done.
