I don't know the exact answer, but according to my book by Dr. Pitcairn, the average daily caloric need for an adult dog weighing 100 lbs is 2,270 calories. The average daily caloric need for a 10 lb dog is 410.

I feed Emma about 230-270 calories per day, (depending on our schedule, if we can walk or exercise a lot!), and she weighs about 6.5 lbs. I feed her 1/4 cup kibble in the morning, 1/3 cup homemade mixture at night, plus 1 T. cottage cheese and 1 T. fruit, plus a handful of the small all natural treats/veggies/snacks, and she's skinny! I feel like they can eat a little more on the homecooked diet, since the food is wet, more of it is moisture.

I hope that helps give you some idea where to start!
