LiL Moe has been crate trained from being small, and Pippy since I have gotten her, this serves many functions in the life of the Yorkie and the Yorkie owner, first of all as I have recently found out ...it keeps the baby Safe....I unfortunately codoned off an area for them as I knew I'd be gone longer than normal.....they escaped and now Moes paying for my mistake.Secondly...a dog is naturally a den animal..if you crate trin your dog it will have its own "get away" area....a place to hide when afraid, and a place to stay out of trouble when unattended. Also Crates provide a good boundary of yours and mine...whats thiers is in the crate..whats not they soon learn to leave alone...this is mostly durring the chewing puppy stages.Crate training is great durring potty training time.....as normally and naturally a dog will not soil thier sleeping area..I say normally as some rescue dogs may due to thier previious neglect.Moe and Pippy BOTH know that When mommy goes to work they go in the crate..to the point now they put themselves away if they see me put my uniform on....so many different reasons for how a crate trained dog is not only happy, but also healthy and easier to deal with. They will all bark, cry or complain to start about using the crate..but I found a cover over the top settles that down.
