I got Zachary when he was nine weeks old and have had him over two months now and he has never did either poop or pee in his crate. Your crate may be too large also. If they are really large I heard that they will go in them. I don't know though, just telling you what I read. Zachary always goes out when I take him out of his crate and does both of his duties. When I first got him, I was waking him up to go out but after a few days tried to see what would happen and he went all night without an accident and has every since. I get up early though, around five every morning.
Also, maybe your little one is excited when it sees you in the morning and tinkles.
