Closed the garage door before letting them out to come into the house. Max my tiny 4 pounder ran under neath the car. I paniced! The muffler was hot & so was the under neath of the car. He could have burned himself badly. Thank God he didn't. I know we can't prevent all accidents from happening, but I believe your posting helps. Letting others know of the dangers that can take place. Again I'm sorry for your loss.
Debbie, you are so right. I think that is why I felt so foolish or like others would judge me as a careless owner. I feel like I need to tell everyone I meet. I also knew better than to let her run loose. Mouse had run under my car at my house once before. That time the overhead was shut and I was just going out to get a broom. But it still upset me because she ran out there and hid under the car. Just coaxing her out from under there was tough. I thought I had learned from that how fast she could move and to keep an eye on her.

Someone else also mentioned picking up a small dog when they meet a big dog on another post. I had been guilty of letting Mouse meet other, bigger dogs without taking precautionary measures. I'll be more protective in the future if I get another small dog.
