Glad to hear that you are not thinking of doing this. I would find a new vet too if mine suggested such a thing.

I never heard of de barking a dog before! I feel this is horrible! This is a way a bog communicates, I couldn't imagine having my only form of communication taken away from me! Dogs bark, if you don't like the behavior of an over barker their are other way's to take care of it, like a water bottle, coins in a can, or putting them in another area.

I hope you have luck with your baby!
