Yeah, exactly that!

Start by mixing 1 part new food to 3 parts existing food. After 7-10 days (and if no upset tummy), mix 1/2 new food to 1/2 old food. 7-10 more days, do 3 parts new to 1 part old, and after 7-10 more, you're good to go on the new food. If your dog's tummy gets upset, go back a phase for a few days, and then start introducing more of the new food after his tummy agrees with it better. I've never had a problem switching foods on my dogs doing it this way.
