Treats work - we're still working on it and probably will be for months! He'll come for a "cookie," but then wants to play by standing at the kitchen door.
He only gets the cookie if he comes, then he has to sit, and now I'm doing down and stay - all for one little cookie!
I got so disgusted with the running around to play chase me whenever he saw the leash, I walked out without him last week! I only went downstairs for a couple of minutes. He was sitting inside by the door looking so surprised!
I think it worked because he hasn't run from the leash since.
I decided to finish up his obedience training this summer, before we get the puppy. I wanted him to set a good example for little Gracie Leigh. What was I thinking? Did I have a momentary lapse of reason? He's a Yorkie! Silly me! |
