I found that Tini did this (pee outside the box) when I wasn't hyper dilligent about cleaning out the box and making sure it doesn't smell. I now clean out the soiled litter twice a day and we don't have problems. I am not sure if it is because of that or if she is just getting older now. Good luck, I know this is frustrating!
