I always play with mine for a little while making sure they don't get too hot and have their tongue sticking out all the time...lol
My son usually stands behind me with a toy at about shoulder level but out a little ways so that they are not looking directly at the camera. I still have to take loads of pictures, but usually get some pretty good ones in the mess.
