There are different types of puppy playpens: Central Metal has a 3x3 with a locking top. Seabreeze has wonderful lightweight ones that you can purhase a top for. You can purchase tops for the metal ones too. Petedge.com or Cherrybrook.com.

I use the Seabreeze ones for travel. Central Metal 3x3s I use for a whelping pen. Placing rubber interlocking floors on them for sure footing and lining them with washable piddle pads. The regular x-pen types I use for everyday....lining the bottoms with interlocking rubber flooring purchased from WalMart in their fitness area.

I started putting tops on them, when one of my boys use to climb out and injured hisself.
