Sorry that you are having this awful situation. BUT... dogs don't forget... and if children are hitting him, he has to have some way to protect himself!
While working on getting him used to with the idea that kids are good........ I would be reacquainting your nephew with a lesson on respect for animals......especially Yorkies. A drop or a hit in the right place can be fatal.

(I agree that a baby shouldn't be in an area with this dog until problem is solved)
