Mine are trained to go outside. Well, Sammy is almost trained. I'm not an expert on pee-pads, but we don't have a fence so I take my dogs outside on leashes. That means I watch them do their thing. Every time, every day... They like to sniff around and find the perfect spot to poop. Both of them shuffle back and forth several times before they finally go. I cannot imagine trying to get them to go ON a pad. They would miss every time. They would probably pee on one, but then the whole house is game. When either of them have an accident it is on the carpet.
They are crated when we are not home, but our schedules allow one of us to be home most of the time. Working, but home to let them outside. That way we don't come home to any accidents, and they get rewarded for going in the right place! |
