YT Friends,

I just returned from General Patton's first appointment to his new vet since I've had him. General Patton now weighs 4.6 lbs. I should have named him Porkie. He is healthy as a horse. All tests came back negative, which is GREAT!. The only disappointing thing is that when I asked what the vet would guestimate his weight would be when fully grown, he said about 12 lbs, though of course that would depend on Patton's growth spurt. He said to triple his weight at 12 weeks(Patton was born 4-10-05) and to double it at four months. Well, Patton has always been bigger than his two sisters, but when I got him, the breeder said Patton would probably weigh on the conservative side about 6 lbs. Patton's mother weighs 5.5 and his dad 4.5 , so I thought 6 would be fine. I told the breeder what the vet had said and she didn't think he'd weigh what the vet guestimated, said if that happens that would be a first in his line. One of his two sisters is Sophie(YT member Anadoodle) and the vet kept the other sister(who now weighs 3.5 she said). The breeder now is thinking Patton may weigh 7-8 lb range. So, I am hoping her estimate is correct and not what the vet said. I will hope....

HERE'S MY QUESTION: Given that Patton is healthy, all systems are working well, DO YOU THINK I SHOULD CONSIDER CONTINUING TO GIVE HIM NUTRICAL which I assume is loaded with calories? I have been giving him Nutrical once daily since I brought him home two weeks ago.

General Patton did v. well for his vet exam. He cried a little after the shot had already been given(I guess the medicine was cold inside his body) and he cried a little when he cut his rear nails. Then, I had the groomer(who has a business there too) cut the hair on his ears to see if his ears will stay erect. She even put a yellow bone. He looked cute in yellow. So, overall, great news for Patton. My only concern for now is determining his size, and hoping that his ears will stay up. Of course, that won't make me love him less, its just my preference.
