I cannot imagine why anyone would want to send you anything other than a loving PM after you've lost a beloved pet. I, too, am very particular about which posts I respond to. Unfortunately, when you're on a public forum, it's to be expected. I guess we all had just hoped that being a yorkie-lover makes us better people; not always so.
