If you truly want a Yorkie that small, then it is going to be very hard to get one from a reputable breeder. A good breeder does not try to have puppies this small. They may occasionally have one but its a rarity. Puppy mills on the other hand strive for the smallest dog possible no matter the outcome. |
Well, there is one in my building named Peanut and he is about 2.5 lbs. At least that's what the owner says. He's the one I see the most. Then there are 2 others owned by another woman and one is 3 lbs and the other is almost 4 (so I've been told). There is also a a girl who owns a Yorkie and a Maltese in my building as well. Her Yorkie, Precious is 3 lbs and her Maltese, Maddy is 3.5 lbs. Then there was a Yorkie I saw at the mall the other day and the owners were really nice and friendly. My boyfriend and I chatted with them for a while and told them we were looking for a Yorkie. They let us play with theirs and hold her for a while. She was almost 4 lbs.
All of these dogs I mentioned are more than 2 years of age. I've also seen them at random outings before and they all looked about the same as the ones I have mentioned previously. So I have never seen a Yorkie 6-7 lbs or more before.
I have had a hard time finding a small one for the same reason you mentioned. Reputable breeders don't seem to have them often and when they do, they want a lot of money for them. Even more if it's a girl. At least that's my experience. Which is exactly why I fell into the trap I did.
