I am not a yorkie owner yet however we do have one in our home as of this past Saturday. She is a stray with a few health issues I would like to keep her if noone claims her but hubby says she cannot stay
Anyway I call her smelly dog or cheeky as I do not want to name her as names bring further attachment then what is already there. I have wanted a Yorkie for well over ten years now and it is by the grace of god that I now have one in my home. First thing I did when I came in with her was to bathe her as she stunk to high heaven. Then while I was drying her I gave her a bit of food and a good look over. She has a lump on her back and one between her back legs on her tummy. She is missing a couple of front teeth and is in desperate need of dental care. Took her to the vet today to have her scanned fr chip and no surprise she does not have one. Vet says will cost at least 125.00 pounds to get her teeth done and as I spent my free money just taking her to the vets looks like I won't get to keep her as this NEEDS to be done and her health is my priority. I have contacted the local animal shelters but refuse to hand her over to them as she is old and the chance of her finding a new home are slim to none... she has a cataract in one eye her bum is bald and she is lumpy and smelly. I think she is gorgeous though. Anyway hope you guys don't mind me posting here just was looking for a yorkie rescue group when I came across this and wanted a place to pour my heart out. Husband does not want me to get attached but it is too late love her to pieces already she has a TON of attitude and heart.
