I need opinions on taking my Fancee in for an Oxytocin shot after she's whelped. What's your experience?

Is it important enough to take her to an Emergency Clinic, if it's the weekend and my Vet's closed?

I took Yahtzee in after her first litter, but didn't after the second. She ended up having trouble after the second litter (dehydration) and not passing a placenta.
