With my experience, whenever Missy would pee or poop we immediately grab her and place her on the pads. Also, there's a certain smell for the pets to know "Ding, Ding!" this is the target. So yeah, I basically just place her on the pads when she is about to pee or poop. Whenever she gave me a single of doing number 1 or 2 (run around in circles, sniffing floor) i grab her immediately and place her on the pad... I thought it was going to be extremely hard for me, since i'm a new owner of a dog, but it turned out to be so simple... when I had to go to school and the family members are at work, we use to leave her in her crate for 8 hours..... but that only lasted 3 days because i can just imagine how stressful it was for her... so we decided to keep her in area which is pretty much baby-proof.
