I would try just using the pads for now and not taking her outside. We pad trained our puppy first, then she started going outside on her walks by herself, we really didn't train her to go outside. Now she is 7 1/2 mo old and will go outside on walks and when we take her out, but will always use the pad at night and when we are not home.

To pad train her we would always put her on the pad when she started looking like she had to go and then give her a treat and praise when she went. It didn't take her too long to pick up on the peeing, but the pooping was harder, we just had to be really consistent, for a while she wanted to poop on the carpet but we always picked her up and moved her, now she mostly poops outside on walks, but will use the pad if she needs to.

I think you will have better luck if you focus only on the pads for now, then she won't be confused, good luck!
