When I'm home I take her outside and she pees, but then comes back in the house to poop, usually on the carpet. She sleeps in my bed with me at night and holds it all night. She also does go on the sofa when she sits with me at night watching TV. If she has to go while she's on the sofa or in my bed, she lets me know by getting in my face and not leaving me alone. My question is, how do I piddle pad train her for while I'm gone during the day? I have no idea how to begin to do this, since I've never pad trained a dog before. Any help would be appreciated. |
Hi Welcome! I'm also fairly new, but I have learned a lot here. I can tell you that you have to be consistent. It sounds like she is confused. I know Sammy was, thanks the members who pointed that out to me. Decide where you want her to go, it seems like inside might be better since you are gone most of the day. Whe you are home, keep an eye on her at ALL TIMES. As soon as you see her wanting to go, take her to the pad. If she goes, praise her, treat her, etc. It seems that You can use the sofa example ..

as a perfect training opportunity. Also take her every 2 hours ( I think)..guys correct me if I'm wrong) You can use a tether to make her follow you everywhere. I know for me this worked, because I was FORCED to watch her and not slack off. I do have a question. How is she peeing outside and pooping inside right after. Is she on a leash? When I used to take Sammy out, even in the yard, He would be on a leash. and I wouldn't let him in until he was done. And when we had to transition to the pad, I would still have to have him on a leash so he would stay there. Being consistent I think is really important.Good Luck
