Maybe you should get a letter of recommendation from the old owners on how good a tenant you are with the dog and that given his size etc that you had no problem with him being there....Too bad you weren't able to get the old owners to do a lease for you prior to their selling the place to allow you to keep your pet ...but I am praying for a good result from the meeting and you may also want to let them know you paid a lot for your pet and had you known this you would not have gotten him !! I feel it will all work out!!! keep us posted!!!
