In all the time I talked about my female who was three and a half at the time, and will be four in July....did no-one else say this to me ???? Not even the best breeders on this web-site !
Not only that, but in all the books I have read, I have never heard of that written either. Even my pick of the litter, top show-ring Bearded Collie's mother was 5 when she had her first litter, and believe me those breeders would never have risked their dog !

I always thought it best for the dog to be under 5 years, but why would it be dangerous after 3 for a first litter ?
I know Guinea-pigs have to be bred before a year before their pubic bone sets.
I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT FOR DOGS.

Pm yorkierose and mardelin. They are show exhibitors that have been doing it for many years (40+). If I'm not mistaken, they do not advise to breed a bitch over the age of 2 (or was it 3, can't remember) because in
toy breeds, their pubic bones will set and during labor, the bitch will have a harder time passing the pups.
Like I said, pm them...I can't remember the exact wording but I know that I've seen it posted many times here.
