I need to be thrifty, as I just got out of college and am starting my career, so rather than throw the other two bags of food out I need to use them. When they are gone I will be feeding only the Blue Buffalo kibble.

The bag is little help. It says 1/3 C-1 1/4 C.... the high end seems like way too much but the low end seems like not enough... I guess 2/3 is okay then-right in the middle????

The apple was suggested to me by the vet (they aren't huge apples- actually rather small, and he LOVES them! I haven't seen any signs of an upset tummy!) and the baby food was started by my mom. I asked the vet and he said that as long as it wasn't a lot and it isn't more than one or two times a week, it would be okay. He gets about an oz or 1.5 oz. They are the small stage 1 jars. He also really loves this, just as much as his apples! All of this occurred in his first visit though, and I didn't ask him anything about diet during this past visit.

I'd scrap the rest of the other foods, personally, and feed only BB. Or, you could use the others as training treats until they're gone. Honestly, after feeding Emma Euk. as a puppy, and then Milli getting BB as a puppy, I'd never feed anything Euk. again. It makes a world of difference in their coat, training, and overall health. Emma actually developed allergies while on Euk-not sure if it was the weather, the climate control we had at the time, or the food, but still, not worth risking. I know the bag says a certain range to feed-but it seems like a wide range. I think it's 3-20 lbs? Remember you're on the low third of that recommendation. If your pup is 6 lbs at 5 months old, I'd personally take him down to 1/2 cup BB puppy (it's higher in calories and fat than adult formula), nix the baby food, and supplement with lowfat yogurt, fruit, veggies, and/or cottage cheese-about 1 T per day. He's probably genetically not going to be "small" for a yorkie (haha) and that's ok!

I think the apples are ok, but please remember to watch the apples-the seeds can be toxic to dogs, so as long as you're only feeding the fruit part, you're ok. Also, grapes, raisins, onions, avocados, and garlic can be toxic to dogs, as well as pits in fruit like plums, peaches, and apricots.

I urge you to log on to BB's website: bluebuff.com. They will send you free samples and coupons off your next bag of food. You may as well-it will save you $, and then you won't feel as bad about not using up the rest of the food. Another BB tip: the Lamb and Rice Puppy is lower in fat than the Chicken and Rice Puppy, while the Chicken and Rice Adult is the lowest fat content of the 3 formulas available at my PetSmart.
