I have been a cat person since I was a very small child. I remember my grandmother, on the farm, letting me pick out my first kitten and bringing it home when it was probably too young to wean. I also had a dog when I was young, and we were best friends. But after he disappeared, at the age of ten, we got another one. It was really my mom's dog, and I was never close to a dog again until Sophie, my Yorkie. I am now 55. I think that I fell in love with Yorkies because I feel they are more like cats, opinionated, always wondering what's in it for them, and because of their size. They are easy to pick up and cuddle. I don't think I would like a dog that smells or that I couldn't hold on my lap.
