Few days later after the purchase our dog became sick. He couldn't breath. We brought him to the emergency room. On the next day doctor said that he has a very bad pneumonia. Boss (this is the dog's name) spent 5 days in the hospital (total cost is about 3000). Boss was released and we were glad that his is fine. However, yesterday he got very sick again. Today doctor told me that pneumonia is back. I paid another 1800 for 3 days in the hospital.
We signed a claim for The Pet Company and been told to wait 14 weeks for the result. I called to the store and told the representative that our dog is sick again. We don't have so much money to pay for all this hospital bills. The representative was nice in the beginning but than she said that it is our fault, that we didn't take a good care of our dog. She didn't want to give me any information or phone numbers of the manager or owner of the store.
I don't know what to do. I'm sure that they won't give us the money back. We spent almost 7000. The doctor said that Boss needs to be in the hospital for at least two more weeks and it's going to cost around 10000 more. However, his chances to survive are really poor. I don't have so much money. Even if they give us our money back, who's going to explain my kids that their puppy is going to die?
One family bought a basset. They have spent $8K in few weeks for vet bills. The puppy is STILL in vec clinic.
That girl was asking for advice how she can sue that store. I, and other people, adviced her to push the store about "puppuy mills". etc. As I know, they got scared and promised to return the bills, but I don't know the final result yet. Either, I don't know how thet poor puppy feels now. Vet told that puppy will be on medication all his life.
Although that girl did a mistake for buying a puppy in pet store, she is so good. She just didn't know about puppy mill problem that is ok, since she is from another country. She trying to sue the store NO MATTER she get money or no. She trys to collect all complains against that store.
Anyway, maybe my advice is crazy, but if you still want this puppy, tell them to sell it at wholesale price.
